Son As-seop becomes the 3rd player in KBO history to hit 2300 hits

Son As-seop became the third player in KBO history to reach 2,300 hits on Thursday against Changwon Doosan.

Son struck out in his first three at-bats against Doosan starter Raul Alcantara. His 2300th career hit came in his fourth at-bat.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, with the bases loaded, Son swiped a 146-kilometer fastball from Doosan second baseman Lee Young-ha. With Kim Joo-won running for second base, Son’s throw went right past the empty seat of Doosan shortstop Kim Jae-ho, who had moved to second base to cover the base.

Prior to Son, Yang Jun-hyuk (Samsung) became the first KBO player to reach the 2,300-hit plateau in May 2010, followed by Park Yong-taek (LG) in June 2018. Park still holds the KBO record for most hits in a career with 2504. Yang Jun-hyuk is next with 2318 hits. 메이저사이트

Kia’s Choi Hyung-woo is also on pace to reach 2,300 hits this season. Choi has 2253 hits through 13 days.

NC had runners on first and third with no outs when Son As-seob singled. With Doosan leading 4-3, the game was suspended due to rain.
