Connor Gallagher, whom Tottenham are targeting as a replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, could be headed to West Ham United.
Fabrizio Romano, a journalist who works for Britain’s “The Guardian” and is known as an expert on the European transfer market, wrote on his personal social media account on July 25 (KST), “West Ham have submitted a formal offer for Gallagher. The total amount of the offer is 40 million pounds (about 656 million won). Chelsea have not yet responded. Discussions will take place in the coming days.”
Gallagher is one of the players Tottenham are targeting as a replacement for Hojbjerg. Currently, Hojbjerg has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid. A personal agreement between the player and the club has reportedly been finalized, and Spurs and Atletico are in talks over a transfer fee.
Hojbjerg has been a key part of Tottenham’s midfield for the past three seasons. With Rodrigo Bentancur unlikely to return to full fitness after recovering from cruciate ligament injury, the departure of Joivier would leave Spurs in need of midfield reinforcements.
Gallagher, who came through Chelsea’s youth academy, has really come into his own since leaving Crystal Palace on loan. In 34 league appearances, he scored eight goals and provided three assists. Since returning to Chelsea, his recent form has been a concern, but Chelsea themselves have been in a bit of a slump, so it’s hard to underestimate him.
However, the pros and cons are clear. He’s not a very technically gifted player, although he’s good outside the penalty box, so he needs to work on some of the finer points of his game, such as his pressing. He’s got potential, and that’s enough to make him a target for Spurs, but West Ham beat them to it. 안전놀이터
Spurs are currently focusing on signing a center back, but it hasn’t been fruitful. If West Ham use the money from the sale of Declan Rice to pursue Gallagher, they will lose out in the money race. The Hammers are in the UEFA Europa League (UEL) next season, making it easier for them to convince players than Tottenham.
