Manchester City have prepared an unusual offer to re-sign Ilkay Gundogan.
“City have offered Gundogan a new three-year contract rather than a one-year short-term deal,” Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reported on Wednesday (Aug. 22).
Gundogan was widely expected to leave City this summer. Despite his contract expiring in June, the club have been unable to resolve their differences.
Barcelona has been touted as a possible next destination. Barcelona reportedly prepared a three-year contract for Gundogan, who prefers a long-term deal.
City have not given up on re-signing him. Pep Guardiola even said in an interview that “I want to work with Gundogan next season,” 스포츠토토 indicating his desire to re-sign him.
Mundo Deportivo weighed in on the re-signing, saying, “City have responded to the player’s demands, and this is an offer he will never be able to refuse.”
His chances of staying at City are now very high. City’s ability to guarantee the length of his contract, as well as his high salary, will allow them to easily outbid Barcelona.
